Painter · Printmaker · Storyteller
I grew up in the western highlands of Kakamega Forest, where mist clung to eucalyptus trees every morning and the earth smelled like rain before the rain arrived. My grandmother would grind ochre into powder and draw animals on the wall — that was my first art class.
I never meant to become a painter. I studied architecture, learned to read buildings as poems. But the canvas kept calling. After years of drafting straight lines, I needed to make something that could breathe — something that moved the way forests move, the way grief and joy happen at the same time inside you.
In 2015 I left my firm and set up a studio with two brushes and three colours. A decade later, I work across oils, acrylics, mixed media, and printmaking — all circling the same obsession: how does light decide what to love?
My work lives in the tension between control and release. I build up layers — sometimes 20, sometimes 40 — and then scrape back, sand, overpaint. The final piece carries all the decisions you can't see.
Whether you want to commission a piece, inquire about a print, or simply talk about the work — I'd love to hear from you. Every message is read personally.
